Would like to try this important Japanese vegetable, Fuki (Petasites japonicus). The leaf stalks and flower buds are eaten. It has naturalised here and there in Norway and can be invasive. I’ve planted it in a special bed from which it shouldn’t be able to escape. It’s been in a small pot so far and, as you can see, was trying hard to get out… It’s subsp. giganteus we have in Norway and seed spreading is not known. There’s also a variegated form, sometimes grown as an ornamental, and that is also rather aggressive. I’ve seen it in a garden here in Malvik.
Get rid of it! It’s spreading in my yard, in my creek & now out to forest. It chokes out everything else & ckears off all natural plants. Trying to dig it up, but spreads under ground by rhizomes! If you’ve had success Killington off, let us know plz. J
